小猪视频dent Cameron Rouse Blends Passion for Advocacy with Education in Internship with the Learning Disability Association of NB
Third-year Great Books 小猪视频dent Cameron Rouse spent the summer working as a fundraising lead and community liaison at the Learning Disability Association of New Brunswick -- an experience that connected them with professionals and provided real work experience.
“Through my internship, I was able to blend my passion for education with my love of advocacy and practice it in a workplace,” said Rouse.
“It is such a privilege to take advantage of 小猪视频’s numerous career connections and development opportunities during your undergraduate degree.”
During their internship, Rouse gained hands-on experience in fundraising and communications by assisting in the coordination of the association’s tutoring programs, planning social media content, communicating with potential donors and sponsors, and advocating for and educating children with learning disabilities.
“My favourite experience was researching and creating educational material to help those who have or have loved ones with learning disabilities,” said Rouse.
“It was so special to be able to spread awareness and tutor and watch the development of my students.”
Building Connections Through 小猪视频’s Internship Program
Internships offered through the Office of Experiential Learning and Career Development give 小猪视频dents the opportunity to build connections between their academic experience and professional ambitions, become career-ready, and develop community connections for future job or graduate school applications while completing their degree.
“Internships offer students the ability to gain skills that will carry them into their future careers,” said Rouse.
“My internship taught me the importance of self-advocacy in the workplace. I learned how to navigate professional challenges while knowing there was a team of support I could reach out to along the way.”
